Todays Barcalounger is the fabulous result of over fifty years of extensive research and development.

All are designed to achieve our distinctive silhouettes, some featuring a deluxe seating system that utilizes a heavy duty drop-in coil unit.
Heavy gauge steel parts ensure trouble-free use and durability.
Long-life bushings at all critical pivot points minimize friction and provide dependable, easy action through the years.
Choose from an array of mechanisms for individual comfort, including rocker recliner, wall lounger, swivel glider, press back, and more.
Optional swivels are available on most rocker recliners and wall loungers.
Precise tooling of steel components eases operation and allows for handle-activated, not handle-operated, mechanisms.

An Inner Strength ... The Frame

The structural integrity of Barcalounger begins with the frame.

Precision-cut woodframe parts are made from kiln-dried lumber to resist warping.
Double-doweled joints are glued for added strength and to enhance rigidity.
L-shaped Barca-Braces lock critical frame parts into a unitized assembly which prevents shifting and wobbling.
Heavy duty sinuous springs, specifically designed for each style, are attached to the frame with insulated clips to elimiate any possibility of squeaking.
Support bolts through legs and wings.

A Soft Touch ... Foam and Padding

Barcalounger comfort is built from the inside out. First firmness... then softness... resulting in luxury seating comfort

Reinforced foam seat cushions are made of high quality, high resiliency, cold-molded urethane. They're buffed, shaped, and wrapped in polyester fiber.
Many styles feature the added luxury of loose reversible seat cushions.
For greater comfort and support, additional foam and polyester fiber fill is used on headrests, backrests, and the comfort ottoman.
Shredded foam is never used.
All-over padding on the outside back and arms insulates and softens the edges of wood frame parts.

Our Barcalounger engineers realize their products will probably receive more use than any other piece of upholstered furniture in the house. That's why we set standards of quality and excellence that are higher and more demanding than most upholstery manufacturers.

The over 600 Barcalounger fabric and top grain leather coverings are submitted to rigorous testing for colorfastness, seam slippage, tear strength, and abrasion resistance. You select one based on its beauty, style, and the way it compliments the look and feel created in your home. If you can't find one that's just right, simply supply your own fabric.
